I work from my studio in Raglan, New Zealand. My studio is open annually as part of Raglan Arts Weekend and by appointment.
Sarah Bing is a Raglan based artist who nonetheless keeps her toe in the creative waters of the artHAUS community. Her work spans both genre and media, culminating in a trail of creative outpourings – from the street-arted exterior of artHAUS, to large abstract works, from portraiture to pottery. In other words, she describes herself as just a good old dogsbody creative.
As a ‘self-taught-everything’ deeply interested in social issues, I am ultimately and continually searching for a way to bridge the divide between concept and actuality. In the meantime, as I fitfully navigate the space between raising a small and very delightful human, and nurturing and developing ones own creative practice, I’ve happily settled into the giving and forgiving arms of clay. Embracing this tactile new medium as means of developing my interest in human frailty and failing, innate strength and resilience, my ceramic work tends toward expressive sculpture.
